Tigers fall to NC State

CLEMSON – The Clemson gymnastics team was back in action at Littlejohn Coliseum on Friday night to take on NC State.

It was the 20th-ranked Tigers’ third ACC meet of the year and their second home conference meet.

Unfortunately for Clemson, it fell short, as the Wolfpack won with a score of 196.300 to the Tigers’ 195.600.

Below is a recap of the matchup between the Tigers and Wolfpack:

Vault

Clemson (3-0, 2-1 ACC) finished the first rotation with a score of 49.050. The Tigers were led on the Vault by Molly Arnold and Maggie Holman, both scoring a 9.850. Arnold tied her career high while Holman competed for the first time this season. Lauren Rutherford scored a 9.825, Trinity Brown recorded a score of 9.775 and Madison Minner posted a score of 9.750. Eve Jackson scored a 9.700.

Clemson and NC State were tied with a score of 49.050 after the first rotation.

Bars

On the second rotation of the night, both Kaitlin Deguzman and Jackson scored a 9.850, with Jackson recording a season high. Lilly Lippeatt and Trinity Webb, who competed for the first time tonight, both scored a 9.825. Finishing on Bars was Rutherford with a 9.800 and Rebecca Wells with a 9.775.

After the second rotation, Clemson had the lead with a 98.200. The Wolfpack were close behind with a 98.100.

Beam

The third rotation of the night was led by Wells with a score of 9.850. Lippeatt added to the total with a score of 9.775, followed by Jackson with a 9.700. For the first time, we got to see freshman Sierra Church, who added a 9.625 to the total. Finishing for the Tigers were Keilyn McCright with a 8.900 and Quinn Kuhl with a 8.875.

The Wolfpack led the Tigers after rotation three with a score of 147.450 to 146.075.

Floor

The final rotation for the Tigers was filled with lots of career highs. Clemson was led on the floor by Rutherford and Arnold, both putting up a score of 9.950, with Arnold having a career high and Rutherford tying her career high. Maggie Holman added to the career-high night with a score of 9.900. Madison Minner competed for the first time this season on Floor and posted a score of 9.875. Finishing on Floor was Jackson with a 9.850 and Trinity Brown with a 9.800.

The Tigers are back in action next Friday at Pitt.
