Earlier this week, Clemson paid a visit to this Peach State prospect, and the Tigers are looking to get him on campus for the first time this spring.
Decatur (Ga.) High School class of 2025 cornerback Kaleb Lanier drew a school visit from Clemson cornerbacks coach Mike Reed on Tuesday.
“It meant a lot that he stopped by (Tuesday),” Lanier told The Clemson Insider. “We talked about how Clemson has been a top program for the past decade and more. We also talked about small ways to pick up on tendencies and more. He checked in on me and wanted to get to know me better as a person. We also talked about how good Clemson academics are – he emphasized on getting a degree and how life after football matters a lot.”
Lanier has yet to check out Clemson in person, though that will change this spring if the 6-foot, 165-pound junior attends the Tigers’ March 9 junior day.
“Coach Reed let me know he wants to get me up to campus on March 9, so there is interest (from Clemson),” Lanier said.
“I haven’t been to Clemson yet, but I definitely want to visit and get up there,” he added.
Clemson is highly appealing to Lanier, who said he had been in contact with Clemson prior to Tuesday’s visit from Reed.
“I liked the emphasis on education,” Lanier said. “Getting that degree, and also of course the DBs that have come out of Clemson has been second to none.”
Lanier would certainly love for Clemson to join his offer list, which is already a lengthy one that includes schools such as Georgia Tech, Duke, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Kentucky, LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Wisconsin and Indiana.
“It would be surreal getting an offer from Clemson,” he said. “Growing up, that’s been a top program year in and year out, so receiving that offer would really be surreal.”
