What Are Clemson’s Biggest Needs in 2025 After Elite Retreat?

The Elite Retreat was a massive success for the Clemson Tigers, landing a trio of four-star commits to boost the trenches on both sides of the ball. On top of the immediate decisions, the staff developed their relationships with a multitude of recruits that sets up well for the future.

That leads us to the spring, where there’s still plenty of work Clemson needs to do. Having a top-three class in the country at this stage is still massive, and the Tigers have the groundwork to bring in their best class of recent memory.

With that in mind, here’s an outlook on each position and where Clemson needs the most work.

QB: Secured

The commitment of four-star Blake Hebert is all the Tigers need in 2025, and the only other at his position to receive a Clemson offer is committed. Don’t expect any massive moves at this position as Hebert is all the group needs right now.

RB: Secured

Gideon Davidson is one of the most electric running backs in the class and CJ Spiller landed his commitment early. Add in Marquise Henderson and the stable is set up well.

WR: Work to be done

Landing Carleton “Juju” Preston was a good start, but Clemson has their eyes on Cortez Mills and Jordan Allen to round out the group. Given the success at this position in 2024, landing another strong class would be massive for the future.

TE: Secured

Four-star Logan Brooking committed back in November. That’ll do at tight end for 2025.

OL: Secured, but still working

Matt Luke has gone on an absolute tear and has three commitments already. Don’t expect that to stop any time soon and landing No. 1 recruit David Sanders Jr. is at the top of the list. Mal Waldrep, Ziyare Addison and Mason Short are among other names to watch as we inch closer to the summer.

DL: Secured

While I’m hesitant to say Clemson is done at this position, three commitments feels like a strong number at this point. All three are strong players in Ari Watford, Amare Adams and Isaiah Campbell. Adding another edge in this class wouldn’t be a surprise.

LB: Work to be done

This is a position with no commitments yet, but Jaedon Harmon and Blett Clatterbaugh are two names to keep an eye on. We’ll see how it develops down the line, but it’s an important position for Clemson to get some cavalry in.

CB: Work to be done

Another position with no commitments, but the Tigers have jumped into the recruitment of Georgia decommit and four-star Tae Harris. That would be a big get, and Clemson has three other uncommitted offers at the position.

S: Work to be done

Clemson is going after DJ Pickett and Jontae Gilbert as the recruiting process continues, and this is a position it would be surprising to see the Tigers not land a commitment in before the cycle is over.
