Clemson Corner Ranked High in Kiper’s 2024 Big Board

The Super Bowl weekend is upon us and with it comes the latest few days before NFL draft season is in full swing. Still, many are focused on the future and ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. is a high on a Clemson standout.

Cornerback Nate Wiggins was a first-team All-ACC player in 2023, and it caused his pro stock to only rise. Beyond his skills on the field, it’s his length and athleticism that makes him an impressive prospect for an NFL defense.

In Kiper’s latest big board, Wiggins made the top 25 with ease at No. 14 and he’s ranked as the second highest cornerback prospect in the class. Just one spot behind Iowa’s Cooper DeJean, Wiggins has the chance to become the top target at the position.

Clemson had a disappointing 2023 season, but Wiggins stood out all over the Tigers’ defensive tape. He was impressive despite missing two games with a knee injury. He allowed 18 catches for 179 yards as the nearest defender in coverage, and two of those were turned into touchdowns.

He has the length and recovery speed to match up effectively with any wideout he goes up against. Wiggins shows a smooth turning motion, good instincts in coverage and can make up ground in a hurry while using his height and arm length as a major advantage.

The NFL Scouting Combine takes place at the end of Feb., and that’s where Wiggins can raise his stock heavily as he’s one of the most gifted athletes in the class. He was considered the fastest player at Clemson, and proving it in the 40-yard dash alongside his length in other tests would open the eyes of many team scouts.
