The duo that dominated the college football world could be making a return in the NFL. Both Trevor Lawrence and Tee Higgins have made big names for themselves as pros, but why not do it together?
That was the question Yahoo Sports’ Jason Fitz posed to Lawrence during Super Bowl weekend. When asked about it, Lawrence was candid but couldn’t help the excitement about that opportunity.
“”I would be very surprised if Cincinnati lets him go. I don’t think that’s going to happen. But if there was an opportunity, it would be great to play with Tee,” Lawrence said. “You know, we’ve texted a little bit back and forth and the league is funny. You just never know how things are going to work out. So many factors are at play, but of course that’s a guy that I played with that we have a great chemistry. Great player. I would not be upset at all if he came to Jacksonville.”
Higgins comes into the 2024 offseason as a free agent after four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. He had back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons before injuries derailed his contract year.
Still, he’s one of the most coveted free agents in the cycle and maybe the best available offensive player. Given he decided to leave Cincinnati, why not link up with Lawrence and Travis Etienne Jr. to truly make Jacksonville a Clemson team.
As a duo, Lawrence and Higgins eclipsed 2,000 yards and 25 touchdowns while winning a national championship. The next big milestone for the two would be winning a Super Bowl, and playing together would only increase the odds of reaching that goal.
