Spencer Strider made a name for himself at Clemson, and now he’s focused on one thing only: winning a World Series as an Atlanta Brave.
Over the last two seasons, Strider has become one of the most prolific pitches in baseball. He broke the franchise record for strikeouts with 281 while becoming an All-MLB first-team pitcher. That also went hand in hand with his league-lead in wins and strikeouts.
That’s an impressive mark, but Strider is focused on winning in October. As the Braves swing into spring training, he discussed the goals for 2024 and it’s all or nothing after the recent disappointment in the postseason, as reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Sarah Spencer.
I asked Spencer Strider what he meant by changing the Braves' rhetoric (HINT: he loved A.J. Minter saying "World Series or bust" yesterday).

“I don’t think we should be afraid to say we want to win a World Series. There’s kind of this aura around it that it’s something that’s out of your control and all outcomes are out of your control. But we want to leave everything out there and guarantee us the best opportunity and the best chance,” Strider said.
Entering this season, Atlanta might not be the favorites but you wouldn’t know that talking to Strider. He’s all-in on winning, and it’s been that way his whole career.
Back in his Tigers career, Strider threw for 89 strikeouts but injury kept him from truly showcasing what would become a normality at the professional level. Still, he’s very vocal about his love for Clemson and he’s showing it on Opening Day for his alma mater.
