CLEMSON — The tenth-ranked Clemson Tigers plated seven runs in the first inning and never looked back as they defeated Xavier 14-3 on opening day.

Head coach Erik Bakich loved the way his team responded to adversity in the first inning. Opening day starter Billy Barlow and Alden Mathes, who hit a grand slam in his first at-bat for the Tigers, joined Bakich for the postgame interviews.
