Rising DB Recruit: Playing for Tigers Would Be ‘Dream Come True’

Clemson will soon play host to this talented young prospect who picked up his first three offers last month.

Rolesville (N.C.) High School class of 2027 defensive back Marquis Bryant is already drawing plenty of recruiting attention, and the rising recruit is set to be at Clemson for the program’s junior day on March 9.

“I’m looking forward to the visit,” Bryant told The Clemson Insider. “It’s always been my dream since I was young to play in a Clemson jersey since Deshaun Watson was there. I can’t wait.”

Clemson is among the schools showing early interest in Bryant, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound freshman.

Assistant coach Chris Rumph, Bryant’s area recruiter for the Tigers, visited his school during the recent contact period and extended the junior day invite.

“It feels great knowing he was thinking about me, for him to reach out and invite me to a top program like Clemson,” Bryant said. “I’m truly blessed.”

Bryant just started connecting with Clemson, and his relationship with the Tigers is only beginning, though the interest between them is certainly mutual.

“Like I said before, Clemson has been my dream school since I was young,” he said. “So being able to play Clemson football would be a dream come true.”

Indiana gave Bryant his first power conference offer in late January, while Troy and Charlotte offered near the end of last month as well.

It’ll be quite a while before Clemson dishes out 2027 offers, but it would be a big deal for Bryant to receive an offer from Dabo Swinney’s program down the road.

“It would mean a lot to me and my family,” he said.

During his freshman season in 2023, Bryant tallied 53 tackles (33 solo), one sack, a forced fumble, three interceptions and 11 pass breakups.
