In his career at Clemson from 2021-23, Wiggins recorded 50 tackles (3.0 for loss), 24 pass breakups, three interceptions (including two returned for touchdowns), two forced fumbles, a sack and a blocked field goal over 34 games (18 starts).
ESPN released a new 2024 NFL mock draft this week (subscription required), with NFL insider/draft analyst Field Yates debuting his projections for the first 32 picks of April’s draft.
Yates’ first mock draft of the year has one former Clemson star, cornerback Nate Wiggins, coming off the board in the first round.
Yates projected Wiggins to land with the Philadelphia Eagles as the No. 22 overall pick.
“The Eagles surrendered the second-most passing yards in the NFL last season (4,296) and undoubtedly will work to add to their secondary this offseason, likely at cornerback and safety. Darius Slay is 33 years old, and James Bradberry will be 31 by next season,” Yates wrote.
“Wiggins has good speed and excellent size for the position at 6-2. He plays with a tremendous confidence and has a short memory in coverage, two essential skills for any corner.”
Wiggins is the third cornerback taken in Yates’ mock draft, behind Alabama’s Terrion Arnold (Indianapolis Colts, No. 15 overall pick) and Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell (Los Angeles Rams, No. 19).
Wiggins garnered first-team All-ACC honors as a junior this past season after tallying 25 tackles (one for loss), a team-high nine pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one sack and two interceptions, including one he returned 46 yards for his second career touchdown.
