The floor is open for Clemson’s wide receiver room in 2024. It’s just a matter of who is going to take it, and it may be now or never for Adam Randall.
Last season was a frustrating one for Randall. Coming off a quiet freshman season, Randall did reach career-highs in catches and yards. The problem was the microscope the Tigers receiving core was put under.
With injuries all around the room, Randall was one of the players who had to step up. That was until the injury luck found its way to him and he suffered a broken hand. Miraculously, he continued to play which feels impossible for a position so dependent on its hands.
That didn’t stop Randall, and his last game of the season was possible his best in a Clemson uniform. In the Gator Bowl win over Kentucky, Randall had five catches for 46 yards.
This was right after quarterback Cade Klubnik claimed Randall looked the best he’s seen in practice. In football, you’re only as good as your last game and the Tigers junior receiver has to galvanize that into his 2024 season.
For returning receivers, Randall presents something that the rest of the corps doesn’t. He’s a physical specimen at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds and his athleticism is evident in contested catches. Randall’s two catches against North Carolina are the perfect example.
That potential as a jump-ball receiver matched with the confidence from Klubnik should open the door for Randall. The boundary spot mocks as Randall’s battle to win in the spring as he’s the most experienced in the role.
Randall has to stack days and it starts in the spring. That’s the first step, and he must turn that into this crucial third season as Garrett Riley and the offense needs him at his best.
