Was Xavier Thomas Injured at NFL Combine?

Xavier Thomas looked like he was injured Thursday after running the 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

The former Clemson defensive end appeared to be gimpy at the end of his first 40-yard dash run, but still did his second 40 run. He was limping again afterward, and the trainers went over to him.

However, according to Thomas, he is not injured. The two-time All-ACC selection took to social media, explaining what happened:

The 6-foot-2, 245-pound Thomas officially recorded a time of 4.62, the fourth-fastest among defensive ends who ran the 40 at the combine.

An explosive edge rusher, Thomas was credited with 133 tackles (34.0 for loss), nine pass breakups, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries over 61 career games (30 starts) at Clemson from 2018-23. He exited Clemson as one of nine players in school history — one of seven non-specialists and one of four defensive players — to play in 60 career games for the Tigers.
