Thomas an ‘Intriguing’ Prospect for Top NFL Draft Analyst

Xavier Thomas piques the interest of this prominent NFL Draft analyst.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah weighed in on the explosive former Clemson edge rusher Thursday during the network’s coverage of the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

“He’s intriguing,” Jeremiah said. “Didn’t have a ton of production. He had three sacks, but you see the explosiveness, you see some of the tenacity with his effort.”

As Jeremiah mentioned, Thomas posted three sacks this past season, when the 6-foot-2, 245-pounder also registered 28 tackles (4.0 for loss), four pass breakups, a team-high 21 quarterback pressures, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery across 12 games (11 starts).

A two-time All-ACC selection and near-unanimous freshman All-American back in 2018, Thomas finished his career as a Tiger (2018-23) with 133 tackles (34.0 for loss), nine pass breakups, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries over 61 games (30 starts).

“He can get speed-to-power, he can bend a little bit,” Jeremiah said. “Was a five-star recruit. He’s going to get an opportunity to show what he can do at the next level.”

Jeremiah recalled seeing Thomas, a former consensus top-five national recruit, at The Opening combine hosted by Nike in Oregon back in 2017 when Thomas was a high school senior.

“I saw Xavier Thomas at a high school event up in Oregon,” Jeremiah said. “He looked like he had been in college for three years as an 18-year-old.”

Despite dealing with cramps, Thomas ran a 4.62 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, the fourth-fastest time among defensive ends.
