Wiggins Had to Laugh at 40 Time Predictions from NFL Team Meetings

After an impressive showing at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, former Clemson Tiger Nate Wiggins silenced any noise about his speed. Yes, you read that right.

Coming out of Clemson, no one in the building doubted his speed. Actually, multiple players called him the fastest on the team. His chase-down and forced fumble in the win over North Carolina was the biggest proof of that speed.

Still, there was doubt from NFL teams about his speed. Carolina Panthers reporter Kassidy Hill talked to Wiggins at the combine, and what he was hearing in meetings was ludicrous to those who know the player.

“I don’t know what they looking at. I don’t know who they’re looking at. Every time I go in a meeting, they say 4.5, I just laugh,” Wiggins said.

The All-ACC corner went on to run an official 4.28, tied for the 10th fastest time in the history of this testing. With his performance over the weekend, Wiggins earned a strong payday and a likely first round selection.

While the Panthers don’t currently hold a first-round pick, Hill asked him about the potential of coming to Carolina. He had a formal visit with the team, and made it clear that it would be a good fit.

“I think the fit would be good for me. They run mostly man, and I’m a man corner…I feel like that’s my best game. Man-to-man, look them in the eye,” Wiggins said “It’s right down by Clemson. I already have a lot of relationships. That would be great.”

The 2024 NFL draft takes place April 25, and a trade-up could end up being the only chance the Panthers have of landing Wiggins barring a surprise. His stock rose from the combine, especially after silencing such misconceptions about his speed.
