Chargers Make Decision on Mike Williams

Another former Clemson wide receiver is reportedly being released today.

The Los Angeles Chargers are releasing Mike Williams, according to multiple reports.

This comes on the heels of the Hunter Renfrow news today, with the Las Vegas Raiders making the decision to move on from the former Clemson star and release him as well.

As for Williams, he posted 19 receptions for 249 yards and one touchdown in limited 2023 action prior to suffering a season-ending ACL injury on Sept. 24 in Week 3.

Overall in his productive NFL career (2017-23), which has been set back at times by injuries, Williams has amassed 309 catches for 4,806 yards and 31 touchdowns since being selected by the Chargers in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2017 draft.

Williams got a three-year, $60 million extension ($40 million guaranteed) after his career year in 2021, when he had 76 receptions and 1,146 receiving yards to go with nine touchdowns. The extension would have gone through the upcoming season had the Chargers not opted to release him.
