CLEMSON – Jalyn Phillips came away from Clemson’s Pro Day on Thursday completely at peace with how he performed.
The Clemson safety, who has been talking to NFL teams and going through the draft process, was pleased with his showing at the Tigers’ Pro Day in the Poe Indoor Facility.
“I thought I did everything well,” Phillips said afterward. “I’m my biggest critic, so I might get on myself about little things. But I’m at peace, truly at peace with today, how I did, and man, I’m just ready to get back on the field. I’ve been a track athlete for the past couple months. I’m ready to get on that field, man, and show my physicality and show everything I can do.”
A respected team leader, Phillips was credited with 187 tackles (5.0 for loss), 14 pass breakups, two interceptions, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over 60 career games (29 starts) at Clemson from 2019-23.
This past season, the 6-foot-1, 204-pounder posted 35 tackles (2.0 for loss), five pass breakups and a sack over eight games (all starts).
After missing time on the field due to injury in 2023, the biggest thing Phillips wanted to show to NFL personnel at Pro Day was that he’s healthy.
“I had some shoulder issues going into the season, feel like I did pretty good on bench [press]. So, I just wanted to show that I was healthy,” Phillips said. “Missed a few games last year. So, wanted to show them what I could do, truly.
“Played a lot of ball within my five years here, so the film don’t lie. Just cut on the film, it’s going to show everything – the heart that I got, the desire, my mindset, and how I just love ball. It’s going to show on the film.”
