Clemson’s star big man is among the best NBA prospects playing in March Madness, according to ESPN.
ESPN ranked the top 2024 NBA Draft prospects in the NCAA Tournament (subscription required), with draft insiders Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo listing the top 50 to watch.
Clemson power forward/center PJ Hall checked in at No. 29 on the list.
“Hall emerged as one of the ACC’s best players and an All-American candidate as a senior, helping solidify his pro prospects after a strong showing at last year’s NBA combine,” Givony wrote. “Hall’s ability to stretch the floor, score with his back to the basket and bring physicality and intensity has endeared him to scouts despite not being a great rebounder or defender. Hall started the season with a bang, but came down to earth somewhat, especially as a shooter, so finding a way to finish strong would be helpful going into the pre-draft process.”
Hall, who was named First Team All-ACC, leads the Tigers in scoring with an 18.8 average. He has posted 14 20-point games this season, including a career-best 31 points and 17 rebounds against Georgia Tech.
The 6-foot-10, 238-pound senior has produced seven double-doubles this season and is one of just four players in the country averaging at least 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game.
Hall was also recently named by ESPN as one of 68 impact players in the 2024 men’s tournament field (subscription required).
“Hall’s 3s didn’t fall this season, particularly in ACC play, but his overall efficiency actually increased thanks to a reduction in turnovers,” ESPN’s John Gasaway wrote. “Clemson’s 6-10 featured scorer is a tenacious competitor in the paint who converts 58% of his 2s and takes care of business on the defensive glass.”
Hall’s sixth-seeded Clemson team is set to take on No. 11 seed New Mexico in Memphis, Tenn. on Friday in the West Regional. The first-round matchup between the Tigers and Lobos is scheduled to tip off at 3:10 p.m. ET on TruTV.
