Veteran WR on Wesco: ‘He’s Different’

CLEMSON – The new kid in town is blowing the receiver room’s minds.

That’s what redshirt junior wide receiver Troy Stellato said of five-star freshman Bryant Wesco. He said that the 6-foot-2 receiver is already making absurd catches in spring scrimmages and it’s taking everyone by notice.

“He’s different, man. He’s good. He’s really fast, long, great hands. I’m very impressed with him just as a mid-year guy coming out of high school. Technically still a high school senior and he’s making plays out there. He looks the part and he’s going to help us for sure this year,” Stellato said.

Stellato is Clemson’s safety blanket. It’s a role he grew into during the 2023 season as an easy target for quarterback Cade Klubnik to keep the offense rolling.

With Wesco entering the fold, there’s high expectations for what he’ll bring to the room. There’s concern about his weight at 170 pounds but the technique and speed make up for it.

“He’s super savvy and he’s hard to get hands on. Great with his releases. He has a knack for it. Obviously a highly ranked guy for us and guys Ike that I feel like, it’s not too much of a jump because of the skill set. It’s translating,” Stellato said.

Coming out of high school, Wesco was a consensus top-40 player and caught 29 touchdowns during his career at Midlothian. Wesco will be in the spotlight at the spring game and his impact on the offense could transform the production in 2024.
