Wright Red-Hot Heading into FSU Series

The senior season for one of No. 4 Clemson’s leaders has been a strong one, and he’s riding a nearly historic pace into a key series.

Infielder Blake Wright came into the 2024 season with a career-high of 11 home runs in a season. Through 21 games, he already has 10 and three came against Presbyterian Wednesday.

“Feels great but we’ve got a big weekend coming up so we’ve got to make sure we’re locked in and focused. Got a good opponent in Florida State…looking forward to the weekend,” Wright said.

Wright is up to seven-straight games with a hit and RBI, none more than the six runs he accounted for against the Blue Hose.

It’s right on time with undefeated Florida State headed to town for the weekend. Friday’s game was moved to a Saturday doubleheader, so it’ll be a two-day gauntlet with the Seminoles.

There’s an interesting trend through the ACC that the Tigers will look to break. It started when Duke took down then No. 1 Wake Forest on the road. Clemson returned the favor by taking down the surging Blue Devis in their place.

Now, the Tigers face the same situation as Florida State comes to Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The difference could end up being Wright, who isn’t far from challenging Clemson history if he keeps his pace.

The program record for home runs in a season is held by Khalil Greene with 27 in 2007. Should Wright keep hitting balls out, it may be a number to watch.

The Tigers open up a three-game sefies against the Seminoles Saturday with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
