South Carolina got some bad news Monday when a top player announced he is entering the transfer portal.
South Carolina will have a different leading scorer in the 2024-45 basketball season.
All-SEC guard Meechie Johnson has entered the transfer portal per multiple reports. He spent two seasons with the Gamecocks and led the team to a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament this year.
Johnson averaged 14.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists. Following the decision, he went to Instagram Live to give a statement on the decision saying he “gotta do what’s best” for himself and his family.
