CLEMSON – There’s a lot of competition in the wide receiver room, and a returning vet detailed the Tigers standing out in the spring.
Junior wide receiver Antonio Williams is back healthy for spring football, and he’s seeing the group come together after injuries plagued the room in 2023.
There’s another receiver that dealt with injuries, and he’s making his mark back in practice. Misun “Tink” Kelley is a name head coach Dabo Swinney has repeated in the spring and Benz’s getting first team reps in practice.
“Tink, I’ve seen him step up a lot. He’s been getting reps with the first team and he’s made the most of it. He’s never shy. If he wants to get in there, he’s going to tell coach hey, put me in,” Williams said.
Freshman Bryant Wesco Jr. is impressing everyone and Williams is no exception. He’s come in and proved that he’ll make an impact early and the veteran is seeing it first-hand at practice.
Coming out of high school, Wesco was a five-star recruit and scored 29 touchdowns during his career at Midlothian. At 6-foot-2, he brings speed and technique to Clemson.
“That man Wesco, he’s different. I already knew that just him coming in. I can tell he’s one of those guys,” Williams said.
Looking at the room as a whole, Williams also noted Ronan Hanafin as a player that’s made improvements. The sophomore is 6-foot-3 and played in 11 games as a special teamer.
Given those efforts, he’s earned his place on the field and now it’s translating into the offense. The Tigers wide receiver corps will continue to build an exact picture, but the depth is evident for 2024.
