Boston College Takes Down Clemson 4-0 Friday

CLEMSON — Boston College scored two runs in both the fourth and seventh innings to take down No. 15 Clemson on Friday night at McWhorter Stadium. With the win, the Eagles, who tied the series at one game each, improved to 22-10 (4-4 ACC) while the Tigers fell to 23-10 (7-4 ACC). 

After three scoreless innings, Boston College broke through with two runs on two hits and an error in the fourth for a 2-0 lead.

Clemson put together their biggest threat in the fifth. Arielle Oda and Alex Brown runners reached on  consecutive leadoff singles, but they could not push a run across in the frame.

The Eagles doubled their lead in the seventh inning as the first two batters reached and came around to score on a two-run single for a 4-0 lead.

The Tigers did not go down without a fight in the bottom of the seventh as Brown reached on a two-out error and McKenzie Clark singled, but again they could not get a run as both runners were stranded.

Boston College starter Abby Dunning (10-5) earned the win with a complete game two-hit shutout. Clemson starter Millie Thompson (4-3) suffered the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits in 4.0 innings.

The Tigers finished the game with three hits, with one each by Brown, Clark, and Oda, while the Eagles tallied six hits in the contest.

Clemson and Boston College wrap up the three-game series with a rubber match at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
