Clemson Wins Series with 10-0 Win over Boston College

CLEMSON — No. 15 Clemson scored five runs in the fourth inning en route to a 10-0 run-rule win over Boston College on Saturday afternoon at McWhorter Stadium. With the win, the Tigers won the series 2-1 and improved to 24-10 (8-4 ACC) while the Eagles fell to 22-11 (4-5 ACC). 

Clemson started things off in the second inning as Arielle Oda put down a perfect two-out bunt for a single before coming around to score on Alex Brown’s triple down the right field line for a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers doubled their lead to 2-0 in the third. McKenzie Clark started the inning with a bunt single and Valerie Cagle was hit by a pitch to set up Alia Logoleo’s RBI single.

Clemson blew the game open in the fourth inning. Oda again started things off with a bunt single followed by a Brown single. Maddie Moore and Cagle each followed with RBI singles to extend the lead to 4-0. Alia Logoleo picked up her second RBI of the game on a perfect bunt and Lindsey Garcia drove in two runs with a single for a 7-0 lead.

The Tigers capped the game off with a run in the fifth. Maddie Moore hit a two-out single and advanced to second on an obstruction call during a steal. Clark drew a walk and set up Cagle for the three-run walk-off homer.

Clemson starter Brooke McCubbin (7-2) earned the win with three scoreless innings of two-hit ball. regan Spencer earned her first save of the season with 2.0 scoreless innings of one-hit ball. Boston College starter Halie Pappion (7-4) suffered the loss after allowing five runs (five earned) on eight hits in 3.0 innings.

The Tigers finished the game with 14 hits, led by Oda and Moore with three each, while the Eagles tallied three hits in the contest.

Clemson is back in action on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. as Furman makes the trip to McWhorter Stadium.
