OL/DL ‘Loved’ Clemson Visit, Says Offer ‘Would Mean the World’

This standout lineman from the Tar Heel State, garnering interest from a bunch of power conference programs, recently traveled to Tiger Town.

Providence Day School (Charlotte, N.C.) defensive tackle/offensive lineman Miles Funderburk visited Clemson on Wednesday, March 13.

A sophomore in the class of 2026, Funderburk participated in the Dabo Swinney Camp as a seventh grader. But this marked his first visit to Clemson as a recruit.

“I loved it,” Funderburk said to The Clemson Insider. “The atmosphere was great there. The experience was very great.”

Funderburk made the trip to campus with two teammates – 2026 four-star offensive lineman Leo Delaney and five-star offensive lineman David Sanders, a priority Clemson target in the 2025 class.

The three are good friends and have talked about playing together in college, though they’re letting each of their recruitments run their own course.

“We most definitely mentioned it before,” Funderburk said, “but we’ve all just been seeing where the wind takes us with everything, with recruiting, with what our parents think and everything like that.”

Clemson is recruiting Funderburk as a defensive lineman, and he was able to spend time during the visit with defensive tackles coach Nick Eason.

“I love Coach Eason,” Funderburk said. “He was explaining to me how he really likes me as a player, he liked my film and everything, and based off my film, he told me what he liked and then he just told me if I had the opportunity to play at Clemson, something he would change, and just the little stuff.

“But he had overall great things to say about me, and I love what he does with his defensive linemen. While I was in that room with him watching film, he taught those guys right from wrong. He’s a very strong coach and he expects a lot from his players, most definitely.”

Funderburk describes himself as a type of defensive tackle similar to former Clemson standout and longtime Atlanta Falcon Grady Jarrett, as well as recently retired Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald.

According to Funderburk, the Tigers liken him to veteran Clemson defensive tackle Tre Williams.

“Up there, they had compared me to Tre Williams… so up there they compared me to him and they were saying how I’m not the biggest guy, but I can get down with the get downs with those big guys,” Funderburk said. “(Eason) said Tre Williams is 6-2, 300, and I’m 6-1, 290. So he was just saying how that comparison is.

“But I would describe myself as like an Aaron Donald type of guy – I can get off the ball easily, my get-off is very great, and I would say that my explosiveness and my power from that initial punch is very flawless.”

Funderburk holds offers from Charlotte and Campbell, while he is drawing interest from schools such as NC State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Maryland, Duke, Indiana, South Carolina and UCLA, along with Clemson.

Some schools like him as an offensive lineman, while others like Clemson are recruiting him for defensive line.

If the Tigers were to offer Funderburk in the future, it would be a dream come true for him.

“Getting an offer from them, that would mean the absolute world to me,” he said. “Because I would always love to watch Clemson … Clemson has always been one of my favorite schools growing up as a kid. So if I got an offer from Clemson in the future, I would be lost for words. It would mean the world to me. It would be amazing.”
