Former Clemson LB Pegged as Day 2 NFL Draft Fit for This Team

As the 2024 NFL Draft quickly approaches, Pro Football Focus highlighted one potential fit for each team on the second day of the draft.

PFF pegged former Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. as the draft prospect that the Arizona Cardinals should target on Day 2 (Rounds 2-3).

“The Cardinals have several needs on defense, including improving the league’s lowest-graded linebacker group,” PFF’s Dalton Wasserman wrote. “Clemson’s Jeremiah Trotter Jr. was arguably college football’s most consistent linebacker over the past two years. While he’s a tad undersized, he’s incredibly savvy and stands out with a 92.1 coverage grade in that span.”

Trotter is No. 88 overall in PFF’s ranking of the top 300 draft prospects, while he is No. 4 in PFF’s linebacker position rankings behind NC State’s Payton Wilson, Texas A&M’s Edgerrin Cooper and Michigan’s Junior Colson.

The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, with the first round taking place on April 25, followed by Rounds 2-3 on April 26 and Rounds 4-7 on April 27.

A Butkus Award finalist and All-America selection by a slew of different outlets in 2023, Trotter was credited with a team-high 88 tackles, a team-best 15.0 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two interceptions (including a pick-six) over 12 games as a junior for the Tigers last season.

A multi-time All-American, Trotter finished his Clemson career with 202 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, 13 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and four interceptions (including two returned for touchdowns) over 39 career games from 2021-23.
