The Clemson football program’s first departure of the spring came this past weekend, when true freshman defensive end Adam Kissayi entered the NCAA transfer portal on Sunday.
Kissayi’s decision to enter the portal drew plenty of reactions on social media, and his mother, Erin Owens, had something to say about it on social media as well.
In a reply to The Clemson Insider’s Facebook post with our article reporting Kissayi’s transfer portal entry, Owens reacted to other comments from fans about her son’s decision.
Here’s what Owens had to say:
As the recruits mother and die hard Clemson fan. He simply was not fully happy. The culture is not for everyone so please remember that the weight of decisions was extremely heavy on him especially a 18 year old young man. Everyone seems to know everything. But you don’t. I have the upmost respect for Coach Sweeney, and Coach Eason. Sometimes you don’t fit the culture. Quit hating on someone else’s dreams.
Kissayi, who committed to Clemson in July 2023 and enrolled in January 2024, leaves the Tigers without ever playing a snap.
The former three-star prospect from Florida announced Sunday that he has committed to transfer to Minnesota.
