Former Clemson OL Garnering Plenty of Interest in Transfer Portal

It looks like a former Clemson lineman is already garnering plenty of interest in the NCAA transfer portal.

Zechariah Owens put his name in the portal on Monday, and a slew of schools have apparently reached out to the redshirt freshman.

The 6-foot-6, 375-pound OL reposted the following post from College Football JGP on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the nearly three dozen schools he has heard from since entering the portal.

The list includes Clemson’s in-state rival, South Carolina, along with ACC programs NC State, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Pitt and Syracuse, as well as other schools such as Oklahoma, Colorado, Southern Cal, Michigan State, West Virginia, Texas Tech, Washington, Arkansas, Auburn and Kentucky.

Owens played 13 offensive snaps in two games while redshirting in his first and only year at Clemson in 2023. The Covington, Ga., native played three snaps in his college debut vs. Charleston Southern, and played 10 snaps vs. Georgia Tech.

A former four-star and top-200 national prospect by multiple recruiting services, Owens committed to Clemson in October 2022 and enrolled in January 2023. The product of Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy (McDonough, Ga.) marked Clemson’s second portal departure of the spring, joining true freshman defensive end Adam Kissayi.
