Jags Make Easy Decisions on Lawrence, Etienne

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made a couple of easy decisions on former Clemson stars Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne.

On Saturday, Jags general manager Trent Baalke confirmed the expected decisions for the 2021 first-round picks, saying the team will pick up the fifth-year option for both Lawrence and Etienne.

“Before I do that, I’m going to look to have a beer,” Baalke said, laughing, when asked about whether they’ll pick up the fifth-year options on Lawrence and Etienne. “I’m joking. Yeah.”

Lawrence’s option is worth $25.7 million in 2025, while Etienne’s is worth $6.1 million.

A Pro Bowler in 2022, Lawrence has completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 11,770 yards and 58 touchdowns with 39 interceptions over 50 career starts in his young NFL career.

Etienne has racked up 2,133 rushing yards, 792 receiving yards and 17 total touchdowns over the last two NFL seasons after missing his entire rookie season in 2021 with a Lisfranc injury.

The Jags made Lawrence the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft before selecting Etienne with the 25th overall pick in the first round of the same draft.
