4-Star ATH Planning Summer Visit, Says Clemson Still ‘High on My List’

Last week, Clemson paid a visit to this highly regarded Volunteer State prospect who has been on the Tigers’ recruiting radar for quite some time.

Cornerbacks coach Mike Reed and defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin stopped by Webb School of Knoxville (Tenn.) – home to four-star class of 2026 athlete Shavar Young.

“It meant a lot that they came by the school,” Young told The Clemson Insider.

Young – ranked as high as a top-115 national recruit in his class – is being looked at by the Tigers as a wide receiver and also as a defensive back.

What has the 6-foot, 180-pound rising junior been hearing from Clemson overall lately?

“They talk about their recruiting process,” Young said. “And being interested in me.”

Young has made several trips to Tiger Town in the past, most recently for the Florida State game last September.

While he wasn’t able to visit Clemson this spring, he said he plans on returning to campus this summer.

“I need to spend time really seeing the campus and stuff outside of football,” he added.

Young holds more than two dozen total offers, with his lengthy list of college opportunities including schools such as Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Young is certainly a candidate to add an offer from the Tigers after they start extending class of 2026 offers next month, and he remains high on the program at this point in his recruitment.

“Clemson continues to be high on my list,” he said.

Young is ranked by Rivals as the No. 114 overall prospect in the country for his class. He played at Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy as a sophomore last season before transferring back to Webb School, where he spent his freshman campaign.

In 2023, Young posted 84 receptions for 1,130 receiving yards and nine touchdowns to go with 17 tackles, 11 pass breakups and an interception on defense.
