With spring ball in the books, Fox Sports’ lead college football analyst, Joel Klatt, ranked who he sees as the best teams in college football heading into the 2024 season.
Clemson (9-4, 4-4 ACC in 2023) checked in at No. 13 in Klatt’s post-spring top 25 for the upcoming campaign.
The Tigers are the second highest-ranked ACC team in Klatt’s ranking, right behind Florida State at No. 12.
Here’s what Klatt had to say regarding his ranking for Clemson:
“Cade Klubnik, in year two with Garrett Riley, should take a step forward. The skill positions and the O-line were a total disappointment. Tigers did win their last five games to finish with nine wins, and so they’re coming off a bit of momentum out of last year. The defense is going to be good at Clemson, and that should carry them. They do have a tough opener, they’ve got Georgia in Atlanta. Not great. They’ve got to play Florida State there in Tallahassee. But remember, you win the ACC, you’re going to be in the playoff. So, I think Clemson’s going to have a chance to do that.”
Georgia is No. 2 in Klatt’s ranking, with Ohio State taking the No. 1 spot. Texas, Oregon and Ole Miss round out the top five, in that order.
Besides Clemson and FSU, Miami (No. 18) is the only other ACC team in Klatt’s ranking.
