National Outlet Has Tigers as ACC’s Top Dog in Post-Spring Top 25

Post-spring rankings are popping up online with spring ball behind us, and this national outlet has Clemson as the ACC’s top dog coming out of the spring.

CBS Sports released its post-spring top 25 this week and slotted Dabo Swinney’s team at No. 14 ahead of the 2024 season.

The Tigers lead the other ACC teams that are ranked in CBS Sports’ post-spring top 25 – Miami (No. 17), Florida State (No. 20), SMU (No. 22) and NC State (No. 24).

Clemson (9-4, 4-4 ACC in 2023) moved up three spots from the program’s No. 17 ranking in CBS Sports’ pre-spring top 25.

Here’s what CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd wrote regarding the Tigers’ No. 14 ranking after spring:

It’s hard to figure out the Tigers. They should be favored to win the ACC, but what more is expected? Coach Dabo Swinney continues to buck the portal trend. If quarterback Cade Klubnik continues to be capable, the defense could lead the Tigers to great things as eight starters return.

Clemson will open the 2024 campaign on Saturday, Aug. 31 in Atlanta against Georgia – the No. 1 team in CBS Sports’ post-spring top 25.

Rounding out the top five in the ranking are Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and Alabama.

Former Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables’ Oklahoma squad came in just ahead of the Tigers at No. 13.

Virginia Tech, which will host Clemson for a November matchup, dropped out of CBS Sports’ post-spring top 25 after its No. 25 ranking in the pre-spring top 25.
