While is is widely assumed that the Tigers have locked up one of the coveted national seeds that would keep Erik Bakich’s team at home through the super regionals, the latest projections on who will be a part of the Clemson regional next weekend differ.
D1 Baseball is still projecting the Tigers’ regional to feature multiple teams from inside the state. The publication has Clemson as No. 6 overall seed, with the rival Gamecocks coming to the Upstate next weekend as the No. 2 seed. The last time South Carolina travelled to Clemson for a regional was way back in 1980.
The projection also has the College of Charleston as the No. 3 seed, with Samford as the No. 4 seed. Clemson is paired up with the NC State regional, with the Wolfpack projected as the No. 11 overall seed.
Baseball America also projects the Tigers as the No. 6 seed overall, but with Texas travelling in as the No. 2 seed. James Madison would be the No. 3 seed, with Florida A&M being the No. 4 seed. The Tigers are paired up with the Virginia regional.
While Clemson was eliminated from the ACC Tournament during pool play, the Tigers did finish up Friday with another dramatic 8-7 comeback win over Louisville to improve its record to 41-14 and the program is currently No. 7 in the RPI.
