While Clemson already has two offensive linemen committed in the 2025 class, the coaching staff is still looking to add at the position.
With the annual big official visit weekend taking place in just a few days, how the class takes form will heavily depend on what transpires at the event.
The Tigers already have two blue-chip talents on board in 4-stars Easton Ware and Brayden Jacobs and first-year offensive line coach Matt Luke has his sights set on multiple high-profile targets as we head into the summer months.
The player at the top of the board is undeniably 5-star David Sanders. He has long been Clemson’s top target in the class and he has visited many times over the past 12-18 months, including three times this calendar year.
Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State will also get official visits. South Carolina already received one. So far, Sanders’ recruitment has taken many turns with the Bulldogs, Volunteers, Buckeyes and the Tigers all thought to be leaders at one point or another. This weekend, Clemson takes its final shot in trying to land what is arguably the top player in the country.
Although, Sanders isn’t the only bigtime talent set to be on hand this weekend. 4-star Mario Nash Jr, who just picked up an offer back in the spring after an unofficial visit, will return to campus. He also has officials set with Ole Miss, LSU and Mississippi State.
3-star Rowan Byrne is scheduled to make his first visit. He has yet to pick up an offer from Clemson, but that will very likely change this weekend once he gets to campus. Michigan State, Florida State and Penn State will also receive officials.
3-star Mal Waldrep will also be back on campus. Waldrep is an intriguing prospect, as his grandfather played for legendary head coach Frank Howard. He also has ties to Alabama. The Tide will also get an official, as will Florida and Tennessee.
3-star Max Buchanan is also set to attend. Buchanan wasn’t able to make it to the Elite Retreat back in January. Florida State, Miami, UCF, Penn State, Clemson and Ole Miss are the six finalists.
4-star Hardy Watts won’t be in attendance this weekend due to a scheduling conflict, but he will come in on Sunday and stay through Tuesday. Wisconsin, Duke, Michigan and Boston College will also get officials.
Landing two or maybe even three players from this group, to go along with the two commitments the Tigers already have, would make for a stellar group of offensive linemen. Most of these recruits, if not all, are expected to make decisions at some point during the summer.
Dabo Swinney hired Luke for a reason, and one of those was his ability to recruit. Over the past two years, this is the weekend that Clemson has done some of its best work. Now we get to see what kind of magic the Tigers’ new offensive line coach can work.
