4-Star DE Recaps Camping at Clemson, Earning Offer from Tigers

Clemson handed out more new offers after the second day of Dabo Swinney’s high school camp wrapped up on Wednesday.

One of those went to 4-star DE Jake Kreul (Bishop Moore, Orlando, Fl), who spent most of the day soaking up all he could from first-year defensive ends coach Chris Rumph.

“My favorite part of camp had to be getting to work one-on-one with coach Rumph,” Kreul told The Clemson Insider. “Working on the exact details of some of my pass rush moves.”

Coming into the day, Kreul knew he had an opportunity to earn an offer with his performance, and that is exactly what he did.

“Going into the camp I knew I was on their board. So it was up to me to prove if I deserved an offer or not,” Kreul said. “And after performing at camp I was told to go meet with coach Swinney, which would be my indication.”

Kreul is considered to be one of the 10 best edge rushers in his class by at least one of the recruiting services, with multiple services ranking him inside the Top 100 overall. While UCF and Oklahoma are two schools Kreul said is recruiting him the hardest in recent weeks, he currently has well over 20 offers, including Auburn, Michigan, North Carolina, Southern Cal and Wisconsin.

However, this most recent offer was special, seeing as Clemson is so meticulous when it comes to the recruiting process.

“This offer means a lot to me,” Kreul said. “Because I know Clemson is very selective with who they recruit and that we are really going to begin to build a relationship with each other as the recruiting process goes on.”
