Swinney High School Camp: Day 3 Afternoon Session Notebook

The weekend session of Dabo Swinney’s high school camp is underway as more than 500 kids rolled into town to participate.

We started out watching the offensive linemen and almost immediately Matt Luke could be hear shouting instructions at the campers. He told then to be different, as that is how you get noticed. Luke emphasized footwork, yelling out “No feet, no eat!”

There was one player that stood out above the rest and that is current Clemson commit Brayden Jacobs. At 6-foot-7, Jacobs is easy to spot. Not very often you see a current commit working out at camp, but Jacobs is going against the mold.

2027 in-state OL John Hammond (Spartanburg) was working out this morning. His father, Vance Hammond played along the defensive line for the Tigers from 1987-90.

2027 in-state OL Nicholas Bigham (Nation Ford, Fort Mill) was attending his first camp. His mom said she arrived on campus a South Carolina Gamecock fan, but is leaving a Clemson fan due to how Dabo Swinney runs the camps.

2026 4-star WR Jayden Petit (First Baptist, Naples, Fl) was the best looking receiver I laid eyes on during the early session. Standing 6-foot-4, he can go out and get the ball in traffic, and gets in and out of his breaks very smoothly. Dabo Swinney stopped in to watch him for a few minutes at one point. Auburn, Louisville, Miami and Tennessee have all offered.

2026 WR Jace Glover (Hancock Centrtal, Ga) was another one of the more impressive looking wideouts to work out during the afternoon session. At 6-foot-2, he is very long and athletic. Needs to adda little bulk but had some of the best hands in the group.

2026 DB Tristan Hill is back at camp this year. Tristan is the son of former Clemson standout Tye Hill.

Summer enrollee Darien Mayo was helping coach at the camp today and he looks every bit of the 6-foot-7 and 268-pounds I am told he weighs at this point.
