Indiana QB Recaps ‘Amazing’ Clemson Camp Experience

Clemson has been showing interest in a standout signal-caller from the Hoosier State, and he had the chance to showcase his skills and arm talent for the Tigers last week.

Anthony Coellner, a class of 2026 quarterback from Carmel, Indiana, competed during the first day of the Dabo Swinney Camp this past Tuesday.

The Clemson Insider caught up with the 6-foot-2, 195-pound rising junior about his camp experience — which he very much enjoyed — and more.

“The camp was amazing and ran very well,” Coellner said. “I enjoyed getting to meet new athletes from around the country and getting to compete with them and talk ball with them.”

Coellner, who owns multiple power conference scholarship offers, had been in touch with Clemson prior to the camp.

The Tigers told Coellner they liked his film and wanted to see him throw in person, and he was able to do just that last week while working out with offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Garrett Riley.

According to Coellner, he received positive feedback about his camp showing from Riley, while Coellner himself came away highly impressed by Riley after the camp.

“Coach Riley was great,” Coellner said. “He is someone that I could definitely see myself playing for and end up bringing the best out of myself, not only as a football player, but as a man. I got to talk some ball with him before the camp, and I feel like I would be a great fit in his offense, and help make a lot of plays on the field. I also loved how he coached on the field, by giving me consistent feedback after throws, and also pushing me throughout the drills.

“Coach Riley gave me some great feedback from the camp about my athleticism and footwork, along with my throwing motion. He also mentioned that we would keep in touch and see how this season would go for me.”

Schools such as Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, West Virginia and Cincinnati have extended offers to Coellner, who completed 56 percent of his passes for 937 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore last season, to go with 298 rushing yards and two rushing scores.

Earning an offer from Clemson moving forward would be a dream come true for Coellner.

“Clemson has always been a dream school of mine and it would mean a ton to get an offer to play there,” he said.

“Something that definitely stands out to me about Clemson is how genuine the whole coaching staff is,” he added. “They all seem to really care about you and not only want to develop you as a football player, but also develop you as a man. You can also see how that really positively affects the players as well.”

Coellner is set for upcoming camp visits to Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Indiana, Kansas and Minnesota. He expects to likely be back in Tiger Town for a gameday visit to Death Valley this fall.
