Speedy 4-Star WR Talks First Clemson Visit, ‘Very Exciting’ Offer

This past weekend, Clemson extended an offer to a speedy prospect who has seen his recruitment explode this year.

Woodgrove High School (Purcellville, Va.) four-star wide receiver Connor Salmin scored the offer from Dabo Swinney’s program during his first-ever visit to campus on Saturday.

“I was speaking with Coach Swinney when I got the offer,” Salmin told The Clemson Insider.  “It was very exciting. Clemson is an awesome program and Coach Swinney is an amazing coach.”

There’s plenty that Swinney and receivers coach Tyler Grisham like about Salmin, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound rising junior in the 2026 class.

A longtime running back, Salmin transitioned to receiver as a sophomore last season and was highly productive while posting 53 catches for 1,107 yards and 16 touchdowns in 10 games.

“Coach Grisham and Coach Swinney are excited about my speed, my size and my hands,” Salmin said. “I have also only played one season of receiver, so they feel like I have a lot of room to develop.”

Not only are the Tigers high on Salmin, but the interest is certainly mutual, with Salmin coming away impressed after getting his first experience at Clemson.

“This was my first time to Clemson and I really liked the campus and facilities, but mostly the people were all awesome,” he said.

“Both the football program and staff are top-notch,” he added. “I am definitely looking forward to building a relationship with the coaches and learning more about the school and the football program.”

Offers have been steadily rolling in this year for Salmin, who has racked up offers from Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Duke, North Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Syracuse, Wake Forest and others since the calendar turned to 2024.

Salmin’s talent isn’t just limited to the football field, as he’s a standout track sprinter as well.

Salmin – who recently recorded a blazing time of 10.44 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 21.18 seconds in the 200-meter dash – spoke about his success as a multi-sport athlete and what it’s been like to see his recruitment take off so rapidly.

“I ran track for the first time last spring and have really enjoyed being able to work on getting faster and competing,” he said. “I have played football since I was much younger and had always played running back, until last season when I switched to receiver. I definitely still have a lot to learn about the position, but I feel like my speed, hands and ability to read the field have helped me a lot in my success.  I feel really blessed to have the opportunities that have come up in my recruitment.”

Salmin is ranked as a four-star prospect and top-215 national recruit in the 2026 class by multiple services, including ESPN (No. 172) and Rivals (No. 214).

Salmin said he’d love to return to Clemson for a game this fall.
