Despite having committed to Ole Miss back in April, Dillon Alfred still chose to come to Clemson last week and work out for the coaching staff at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp.
The 4-star wideout (Saraland, Al) made the long trek from Alabama looking to earn one of the hard to get offers from the Tigers.
“I mean, everything went well honestly,” Alfred told The Clemson Insider. “Went out there and balled out (Tuesday). After that, they just showed me mad love. They really want me there. Showed me around the campus and stuff. Everything went well. We had a great time.”
This was Alfred’s second visit to campus over the past few months, as the 5-foot-11, 175-pound recruit also visited in March, attending a spring practice, and it was that visit that piqued the rising high school senior’s interest.
“When I came to one of the spring practices they just caught my eyes,” Alfred said. “I loved it there.”
As for what stands out about Clemson in Alfred’s eyes, it’s the culture Dabo Swinney has created inside the program and his relationship with the coaches, including wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham.
“It’s the coaches there, coach Swinney and coach Grisham,” Alfred said. “And I felt the vibe there and that’s what really catches me. It’s a family environment. A place that will help you get to the next level. And I really love it there.”
Clemson already has one receiver committed in the 2025 class in 4-star Ju Ju Preston and the coaching staff is still looking to add one more player at the position. While Alfred has yet to pick up an offer, he is absolutely a name to keep an eye on as we get deeper into the summer.
“They said it’s coming,” he said.
