Stock-Soaring OL Explains Why Tigers Stand ‘High’ in Recruitment

The Clemson Insider caught up with a standout in-state lineman who has seen his recruiting stock soar of late.

Carvers Bay (Hemingway, S.C.) class of 2026 offensive lineman Zyon Guiles is blowing up on the recruiting trail and has racked up a bunch of big-time offers recently, including one from Clemson.

The 6-foot-5, 292-pound rising junior picked up that offer from the Tigers following a strong showing at the Dabo Swinney Football Camp on June 5.

“It felt amazing man,” Guiles said, reflecting on the offer in an interview with TCI. “I attended a camp and I balled out in front of Coach Swinney, and after the camp, he took me over to his office and he told me the good news.”

Swinney and new offensive line coach Matt Luke clearly liked what they saw at camp from Guiles, as evidenced by his offer from the Tigers.

“Coach Luke gave me good feedback and also feedback that could help improve my game,” Guiles said. “Nobody is going to be perfect, especially for how young I am now. Overall they were pretty impressed by my footwork.”

Luke and Guiles have already built what Guiles called “a great bond,” and their relationship should only continue to grow over the course of the recruiting process.

“I’m looking forward to building it more and more as my high school days come to an end,” he said. “They have been showing great interest in the recent years and that’s what I love most.”

On the same day Clemson offered Guiles, South Carolina did the same, as did South Florida.

Along with those schools, Guiles has collected offers this month from Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Duke and NC State. His list of more than a dozen offers also includes schools like Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Guiles said he has been a Clemson fan since he was little, and he loves how the Tigers run their program. He spoke about where Clemson stands in his recruitment right now after pulling the trigger on an offer that meant the world to him.

“They stand high, especially since them believing in me at an early age,” he said. “They said they can help me be developed and you really can feel the love over there.”

“What stands out the most is their family based staff,” he added. “Most are alumni and very close connected.”

Guiles wasn’t sure when he’ll return to Clemson but doesn’t expect it to be too long before he makes it back to Tiger Town.
