Freshman Earns Another All-American Honor

Aidan Knaak continues to accumulate postseason honors.

After an outstanding freshman campaign for Clemson, Knaak was named a third-team All-American by D1 Baseball on Wednesday.

For most of the season, the freshman standout was the Tigers’ Sunday starter in the weekend rotation, registering a 5-1 record with a 3.35 ERA while opponents his just .221 against him. His 108 strikeouts were a team-high and he walked just 29 hitters all season.

Knaak, who only allowed 14 extra-base hits, also led the team in starts on the mound and innings pitched (83.1). Clemson had a 13-2 record in his 15 starts. Five times Knaak started and did not allow a run and 11 of his 15 starts were quality starts.

“This is the best coaching staff in the country, so I would never want to go play for anyone else,” Knaak said after the season. “They just make the team, everything so much more fun to play for, and Clemson University is such a great school.”

Knaak earned All-ACC honors this season and was also named an All-American and the Freshman Pitcher of the Year by the NCBWA.
