Former Tiger DT Among This NFL Team’s First Wave of Cuts

A former Clemson defensive lineman was among this NFL team’s first wave of roster cuts Monday ahead of Tuesday’s 53-man roster deadline.

The Dallas Cowboys announced a full list of roster moves made on Monday, and Albert Huggins is among the players who were waived/released by the team.

Huggins signed with the Cowboys on Aug. 6.

The former Tiger defensive tackle has played for five different teams in five NFL seasons. The 6-foot-3, 305-pounder suited up for the Atlanta Falcons in 2023 and played in 13 games with five starts, both the most of his pro career to date. He also posted a career-high 22 total tackles to go with two quarterback hits and a fumble recovery.

A former high school All-American and two-time national champion at Clemson, Huggins completed his Clemson career (2015-18) with 83 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, 25 quarterback pressures and a pass breakup in 911 snaps over 46 games (four starts). He rose to the occasion in the final two games of his career, stepping into the starting role for Clemson’s victories in the Cotton Bowl and the College Football Playoff National Championship to end 2018.
