Saturday night’s blowout win over App was an opportunity for the Clemson coaching staff to get the backups a lot of work.

After taking a 35-0 lead after just one quarter, the reserves started to roll in pretty quickly. By the end of the night, more than 100 players had taken at least one snap.

Several younger players on the roster got their most extensive time on the field to date, with many taking full advantage of the opportunity.

Redshirt freshman Stephiylan Green recorded his first career sack and freshman Sammy Brown led the team in tackles. Freshman Ricardo Jones nabbed the first interception of his career. AJ Hoffler and Vic Burley also saw plenty of playing time.

Freshmen Champ Thompson, Hevin-Brown Shuler, Darien Mayo, Drew Woodaz, CJ Kubah-Taylor and Corian Gipson all made their collegiate debuts as well.
