CLEMSON — When No. 21 Clemson faces rival NC State this Saturday, it will be a homecoming for one of the Wolfpack players.
Dacari Collins, who played for the Tigers from 2021-’22, returns to Tiger Town for the first time since he left Clemson and transferred to NC State. And though the situation might seem weird to some, Collins isn’t bothered by it.
“No, it is just a game,” Collins said to Inside Pack Sports earlier this week.
Collins’ former head coach, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney does not seem bothered by Collins’ return to Memorial Stadium either.
“He is a good kid. I am glad he is doing well. But we are talking about our guys,” Swinney said.
Collins was primarily a reserve receiver during his time at Clemson. He played in nine games and started three during his freshman season in 2021, while hauling in 16 catches for 221 yards.
His best game at Clemson came against UConn when he caught six passes for 97 yards. He also grabbed two catches for 50 yards in a win over South Carolina.
In 2022, Collins appeared in three games before leaving the team and later putting his name in the transfer portal.
Collins, a starter for the Wolfpack, does not appear to be concerned about returning to Clemson or the fact Death Valley will have a packed house after the school announced a sellout earlier this week.
“Our coaches have. They talk a lot about the noise and the fans, but I’m used to it,” he said. “When I’m playing, I’m locked in, so it’s not really a factor for me.”
So far this season, Collins has started all three games. He has seven catches for 78 yards, including a 28-yard reception.
