CLEMSON — NC State head coach Dave Doeren spoke to the media following No. 21 Clemson’s 59-35 win. In the week leading up to Saturday’s game, Doren said he thought his team could beat Clemson because they have done it before.
That did not happen.
Doeren said they were on their heels right from the beginning, as the Tigers jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik threw for 209 yards and three more scores, as the Tigers racked up 523 total yards. The Clemson quarterback was once again efficient in running the offense, as he completed 16 of 24 passes and ran four times for 70 more yards.
Running back Phil Mafah also had himself a day. The senior ran for 107 yards on seven carries, including a 38-yard touchdown that gave Clemson a 28-0 lead with 2:08 to play in the first quarter.
