ESPN released its updated college football power rankings this week, stacking up the top 25 teams in the sport as it stands right now following Week 4 of the season.

Clemson (2-1, 1-0 ACC) moved up to No. 14 in the latest ESPN power rankings following Saturday’s 59-35 victory over NC State at Death Valley.

It continues Clemson’s rise in the ESPN power rankings. After Week 3, when the Tigers had an open date, they were ranked No. 17. Prior to that, Clemson was No. 19 in ESPN’s power rankings after the Week 2 win over App State.

Here’s what ESPN had to say regarding Clemson and quarterback Cade Klubnik coming off back-to-back stellar performances against the Mountaineers and Wolfpack:

Over the span of 15 frustrating games, the takeaway on Cade Klubnik was simple — he was DJ Uiagalelei Part II, another five-star QB who simply couldn’t live up to the hype. It was always something of a lazy take. Klubnik was often quite good, but also often quite bad. The key was consistency.

Does two games count as a trend then? If so, the numbers couldn’t be better. Klubnik’s past two starts against App State and NC State have been otherworldly: 80% completions, 11.7 yards per dropback, 11 total touchdowns and no turnovers. It has been so good, in fact, those fans once complaining about Klubnik, are now daring to imagine a world in which he approaches Trevor Lawrence territory.

Texas stayed at No. 1 in ESPN’s latest power rankings after Week 4, with Georgia still at No. 2. Tennessee slid up a spot to No. 3, while Ohio State moved up a spot to No. 4, and Alabama rounds out the top five after falling two spots to No. 5.

Miami remains the highest-ranked ACC team in ESPN’s power rankings, but dropped one spot to No. 7. Louisville jumped Clemson in the rankings after surging up six spots to No. 13 following a 31-19, Week 4 win over Georgia Tech.

Clemson moved up four spots to No. 17 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll that was released Sunday, while the Tigers also moved up four spots to No. 15 in the latest Coaches Poll.

Clemson will wrap up its current three-game homestand this Saturday, Sept. 28 when the Tigers face Stanford on Homecoming. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff on ESPN.
