Tigers Move up in Latest AP Poll After Week 5

The latest AP Top 25 Poll was released Sunday after Week 5 of the college football season.

Following Saturday’s 40-14 victory over Stanford, Clemson (3-1, 2-0 ACC) moved up to No. 15 in the updated AP Poll.

The Tigers were previously ranked No. 17 in the AP Poll after their 59-35 win over NC State on Sept. 21.

On Saturday against Stanford at Death Valley, Clemson reached the 40-point mark for a third consecutive game, with junior quarterback Cade Klubnik once again leading the offensive charge as he accounted for five touchdowns.

Klubnik finished 15-of-31 passing for 255 yards with four passing touchdowns and added seven carries for 48 yards with a rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. caught two passes for a team-high 104 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Clemson recorded a season-high four sacks while adding three takeaways and three turnovers on downs. Linebacker Barrett Carter tied his career high with 3.5 tackles for loss, while fellow linebacker Sammy Brown recorded 2.0 sacks for his first career multi-sack game.

After going unbeaten in a three-game homestand, the Tigers will now hit the road for consecutive games away from home when they face Florida State on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Wake Forest on Saturday, Oct. 12. Clemson will return to Memorial Stadium to play Virginia on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The game at FSU this Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff on ESPN.
