DJ Uiagalelei’s status for Florida State’s home matchup against No. 15 Clemson is officially up in the air, but according to a report there may be some clarity.

According to a report, Uiagalelei suffered a broken finger on his throwing hand in the Seminoles 42-16 loss to SMU on Saturday and is expected to miss the next few weeks.

The injury occurred on a play in which Uiagalelei had just thrown a pick six, his third interception of the contest. Brock Glenn would come on in relief for Florida State and finish 0-for-4 passing.

Uiagalelei a former 5-star recruit, was Clemson’s starting quarterback for two seasons, amassing a 22-6 record in games in which he started. After being benched in the 2022 ACC Championship Game against North Carolina, Uiagalelei would enter the portal and transfer to Oregon State, where he spent one season with the Beavers before moving on to Florida State.

The Seminoles are off to a 1-5 start with Uiagalelei as the starter. The fifth-year senior is completing just 53.8% of his passes and has just four touchdown passes to go along with six interceptions.

Clemson and Florida State is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday and the game will be televised on ESPN.
