ESPN released its latest college football power rankings this week, stacking up the top 25 teams in the sport right now after a wild Week 6 of the season.

Clemson (4-1, 3-0 ACC) continues to rise in the ESPN power rankings and is now inside the top 10 after moving up to No. 8 following last Saturday’s 29-13 victory over Florida State in Tallahassee.

The Tigers were previously No. 11 in the power rankings entering Week 6, coming off a 40-14 win over Stanford in Week 5.

Here’s what ESPN had to say regarding Clemson and how the Tigers looked in Week 6 against the Seminoles:

“Though the Tigers did not score 40 or more points against Florida State, they did rack up 500 yards of offense for the third time this season in a 29-13 win over the Seminoles. Coach Dabo Swinney was quick to praise freshman kicker Nolan Hauser for making five field goals, but the flip side of that is Clemson struggled in the red zone — settling for field goal attempts rather than touchdowns on five trips that ended inside the 20-yard line.

“Phil Mafah had a huge game on the ground, with a season-high 154 yards. As for quarterback Cade Klubnik, he has gone 74-of-114 for 1,077 yards with 14 touchdowns and one interception in his past four games. Up next is a trip to Wake Forest. Wake last beat Clemson in 2008.”

Ohio State (Week 6 win vs. Iowa) is the new No. 1 in ESPN’s latest power rankings, ahead of Oregon (Week 6 win vs. Michigan State) at No. 2. Texas (idle in Week 6), Penn State (Week 6 win vs. UCLA) and Georgia (Week 6 win vs. Auburn) round out the updated top five.

Miami remains the highest-ranked ACC team in ESPN’s power rankings and stayed put at No. 6 after rallying from a 25-point deficit to beat Cal 39-38.

Louisville, which had previously been the only other ACC team besides Clemson and Miami in the power rankings, dropped out after falling to SMU 34-27.

SMU entered ESPN’s power rankings at No. 22, while Pittsburgh is now in the power rankings at No. 19 coming off its 34-24 win at North Carolina.

Clemson surged up five spots to No. 10 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll that was released Sunday, while the Tigers moved up three spots to No. 11 in the latest Coaches Poll.

Clemson’s game at Wake Forest on Saturday is set to kick off at 12 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.
