Former Clemson WR No Longer with Big Ten Team

A former member of Clemson’s “Wide Receiver U” has reportedly left this Big Ten team.

Clemson transfer E.J. Williams is no longer on the Indiana football team’s roster, and according to multiple reports Monday, he is no longer with the program.

The former Clemson wideout caught two passes for 49 yards this season. This was slated to be his fifth and final year of eligibility, but because he played in only four games, he can still redshirt this year.

In early December 2022, Williams announced his intent to enter the NCAA transfer portal, and the following January, he revealed that he would be transferring to play for the Hoosiers.

This was his second year at Indiana. In 2023, he had 23 catches for 281 yards while playing in only eight games due to injuries.

The former four-star prospect from Phenix City, Ala., native played at Clemson from 2020-22, recording 40 catches for 442 yards and two touchdowns in 888 offensive snaps over 33 games (six starts).

Entering this season, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti – who has led the 7-0 Hoosiers to their best start in 57 years – commented on Williams and the time that the 6-foot-4, 203-poinder has missed because of injuries.

“Got to get him on the field and keep him on the field,” Cignetti said, via Indiana beat reporter Michael Niziolek of the Bloomington Herald-Times. “That’s the biggest thing, the best ability is availability. You got to stay on the field and that’s been his biggest nemesis.”
