Hopkins Involved in Blockbuster Trade

A former Clemson wide receiver is involved in a blockbuster trade.

According to multiple reports on Wednesday morning, DeAndre Hopkins, who at the current time plays for the Tennessee Titans, is expected to be traded to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The two-time defending Super Bowl Champions currently stands as the lone undefeated team in the NFL at 7-0.

This year, Hopkins has played in all six games for Tennessee, while catching 15 passes for 173 yards with 1 TD.

Overall in his NFL career, Hopkins has played in 168 games. He has 943 career receptions for 12,528 yards and 79 touchdowns. He has averaged 13.3 yards per reception in his career to this point.

After his celebrated career at Clemson, Hopkins was taken in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans with the No. 27 pick. He spent his first seven seasons with the Texans before heading to Arizona in 2020.

The five-time All-Pro wide receiver joined the Titans in 2023, when he caught 75 passes for 1,057 yards and seven TDs. Seven times Hopkins has recorded 1,000-plus yards in an NFL season, including a career best 1,572 yards in 2018.

Four times, Hopkins has amassed 1,300 or more yards in a season. Three times he has had 11 or more touchdowns in a season, including 13 in 2017.

At Clemson, Hopkins had one of the best careers by a Clemson wide receiver, topping 206 catches in 39 games. He tallied 3,020 yards and a school record 27 touchdowns.

In 2012, Hopkins caught 82 passes for a then school record 1,405 yards. His 18 touchdown receptions is still the best in a single season at Clemson.

Hopkins played high school football at nearby Daniel High School in Central, S.C., where he still holds most of the school records in terms on receptions, yards, touchdowns and interceptions.
