Clemson’s 2025 recruiting class could be on the verge of adding another blue-chip talent to its list of verbal pledges.
4-star safety Jordan Young (Monroe, NC) is set to announce a commitment on Saturday. Clemson, NC State, Florida State and Michigan are the four finalists.
The 6-foot defensive back has long been a top target for the Tigers, having picked up one of Clemson’s opening offers in the summer of 2023. He has visited campus multiple times since, including two game day visits this season.
Young plays both ways for his high school team and through the first seven games he has a team-high in catches (15) and receiving yards (350). His four touchdown catches are two more than anyone else on the team.
His biggest impact might have come on the defensive side, where Young also leads the team with five interceptions. He has five passes defended and a fumble recovery to go along with his 23 total tackles.
Early this year and into the spring, Clemson was seen as the favorite to land the talented prospect, but as we got into the summer months, that momentum seemed to shift in the favor of NC State. Young made several visits to Raleigh, including multiple game day stops this season.
However, the disappointing season the Wolfpack are experiencing, including the 1-3 start to ACC play, appears to have changed things. Young being in attendance for the Tigers’ blowout win over NC State can’t hurt Clemson’s chances either.
Young’s most recent visit was this weekend when he traveled to Ann Arbor for Michigan’s 24-17 win over in-state rival Michigan State, but this is one that still likely comes down to Clemson and NC State.
The Tigers already have one safety committed in the 2025 class in 4-star Tae Harris, a former Georgia commit that multiple services rank inside the Top 60 overall.
Adding Young to the class would give the Tigers two extremely athletic guys with speed at the position. It would also give Clemson two of the better safeties in the class. Harris ranks as high as No. 3 among all players at the position and Young No. 9.
Even more so, it would add another quality piece to the 2025 class that currently only has 13 commitments. While it lacks in numbers, it certainly doesn’t lack in substance, as it ranks No. 7 at On3 in average rating per commit. Adding Young would only make it stronger.
